Identifying the Prime Meridian in Year Five

In our geography lesson this week, we identified and discussed the significance of the Prime Meridian. We used this to help us identify different times zones around the world using our knowledge of capital cities.  

Africa in Year Two

In Year Two, we have been learning about Africa. We learnt how people in Zambia use the river in a different way to people in England.

Year Two at Peak Wildlife

Year Two have been to Peak Wildlife this week. They looked out for African animals and learnt about their habitats.

Around the world with Reception

This week we have been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali. Hindus retell the story of Rama and Sita at Diwali time and we discovered that in the story, Sita was taken to the island of Sri Lanka. We found out where Sri Lanka was and marked it on our world map.

Geography in Year Three

Year Three learnt the difference between villages, towns and cities. They have then made connections with South American communities and settlements. Finally, they located the capital cities of South America with atlases. So much learning!

Brazil Day in Year Three

What a fabulous day we had in our Brazil day! We took off to Rio de Janeiro, wrote a holiday leaflet and created a Maths game called ‘The rainforest hunt’. In the afternoon, we have learnt more about how Brazilians live and we prepared ourselves for a carnival. Lots of fun!

Transport in Year One

Year One have learned about the history of transport as part of their learning about the local area. They’ll be completing a transport survey when they visit Milton later this week 🚘🚛⛴️✈️and considering why they see certain forms of transport locally more than others.

Continents in Year Two

Year Two have been learning about the continents in geography. They played a continents game with the giant globe and drew them on balloons.
