This week we have been learning about why we have Remembrance Day. We read a lovely story Called A Day to Remember, which helped us to understand a little bit more. We then used our creative skills in the classroom to re act, paint, collage and colour.
We learned all about Guy Fawkes and his failed plan to blow up the king! We then created our very own Guy Fawkes using uniform and newspaper! 🗞 We think he’s amazing, don’t you? 🤩
This week Reception have been learning about the story of the Gunpowder Plot. They were excited to learn about Guy Fawkes and his foiled plot to kill King James. The children used the masks o recreate the story.
This week we have been decorating some halloween biscuits, we have used sweets and chocolate chips and practised our one to one counting to create some spooky faces! 🎃 👻
As part of our DT and Computing we have made pumpkin soup. We had to follow the instructions carefully, chopping the pumpkin and onion before putting it in the oven to roast. We can’t wait to try it 🎃
This week the children in Nursery have been introduced to the Ukuleles and have been learning how to hold them correctly. They have been made some beautiful sounds with them and enjoyed listening to the different sounds they made.
This week we have been working out what is one more or one less than a number. We began by using real objects, progressed onto counting fixed objects and some of us even worked out the answers using just the numerals. We love our maths learning in Reception!
We are doing a science experiment to see how we can stop our apples going brown. We came up with some brilliant ideas, such as adding water, vinegar, milk, apple juice or lemon juice. We are going to observe them over the next day or two to see what happens.
This week the children have been practising their jumping skills in PE. They have been jumping from spot to spot with both feet together. We also practised navigating space, moving around the room without bumping into our friends!
This week we have put on our big listening ears and been for a walk around the school. We listened carefully to hear lots of different sounds , we heard teachers, children, music, toilets flushing, phones ringing, noses blowing and an aeroplane!
