Welcome to our New Nursery Children

This week our new nursery children have started their journey at Hillside. They have been busy making friends, getting used to the school routines and enjoying exploring our fantastic resources and areas. We have had a brilliant week and are very impressed with how well the children have settled!

Hot seating in Reception

This week we having been reading the story of Whatever Next by Jill Murphy. Following on from this, we hot seated Baby Bear from the story. The children came up with some fantastic questions to ask Baby Bear about his trip to the moon. The answers were amazing!

Year Three Mathematicians

Year Three have started their Maths Unit with Place value and used concrete resources such as Base 10 and beads to represent numbers in different ways. Everyone was working very hard.

Gymnastics in Year Six

We have started our gymnastic unit. Children have been learning how to perform a cat jump full turn. Over the course of this half-term, they will be learning other jumps, leaps, turns, travels and rolls before putting all of their learning together for a final performance.  

First week in Reception

The children have had a fabulous first week in Reception! They have settled in well, reconnected with old friends and made new friends and are eager to begin their next learning journey.

Welcome back Year One!

Not only did Year One impress during transition week, but they’ve impressed their new teachers on the return to school too! They’ve settled in to their new seats, solved tricky maths problems and worked together to learn the new classroom routines! Well done everyone! We can’t wait to see what you achieve this year! ⭐️

Year One’s Animated Books

Year One have been expanding their computing skills by creating animated books. They used Purple Mash to create text and images and then added movement and sounds to their different pages. It took a lot of perseverance and skills relating to editing and saving too – well done to everyone! ⭐️

Year Three are washing their mammoth

We have explored the book “How to wash a woolly mammoth’ from Michelle Robinson. We sequenced the process into clear steps and acted it up by washing our reading bus!!! Lots of fun!
