Read Theory

The expectation for children to achieve a signature in their reading diary from the www.ReadTheory.org website has been reduced. Now, instead of children having to earn 200 Knowledge Points for one signature (or 400 for two), they are now only required to achieve 50 Knowledge Points for one signature (or 100 for two).

We ask that use of ReadTheory does not replace regular reading of books, therefore we expect that children still read their school book three times per week; ReadTheory is simply another, interactive option should children want to reach the Reading Rocket challenge of reading 5x per week.

Remember, if children can evidence that they have read five times in a week consistently, they will be entered into a draw to win a custom prize chosen by Hillside pupils – in the past this has been smiggle vouchers, flip out tickets and even a kindle fire! In addition, for every multiple of 1500 Knowledge Points, children will be awarded with a certificate in school.

ReadTheory is a superb, free resource which can help your child improve significantly in their reading comprehension and inference. Although there is no requirement to engage with this resource, use of it is very valuable and advisable.

Your child’s username and password can be found in their reading diary. When your child has achieved 50 Knowledge points, we ask that the diary is signed by a parent/carer, cites ‘ReadTheory’ and is dated.

Thank you for your continued support with your child’s education.

Mr Frost.
